Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal said on Saturday afternoon that the government is willing to conduct negotiations at any time with the protesters of the sit-in. he also blamed them of having contacts with India.

The minister added that the operation was being conducted on the directives of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) and added that the court had ordered to end the sit-in in three days.

Religious parties protesting in Islamabad had ‘contacted India’, and that the government was investigating the matter. The minister claimed

“They are not simple people. We can see that they have various resources at their disposal. They have fired tear gas shells, they also cut the fibre optic cables of cameras that were monitoring their protest.” He added

“Why they did it, we are looking into it. They have inside information and resources that are being used against the state.” He further said

“We are trying to clear the area with minimum violence, but we also need to ensure the fundamental rights of people of twin cities,” he asserted.

“We are all Muslims and believe in Khatm-i-Nabuwwat. There is no threat to Khatm-i-Nabuwwat,” he asserted.

“If you want to do your politics, do it, but why are you using this issue to incite hatred?” he questioned.

Iqbal appealed to the people to not cause chaos as it plays into the hand of international conspiracies against the country.

The interior minister further added that the security forces and administration are trying to ensure minimum loss.
