Senate committee asks CDA to submit response on PARC land within a month

Senate Committee on Rules of Procedure and Privileges in its meeting asks CDA to submit reply on its decision regarding the land of Pakistan Agriculture Research Cooperation (PARC) to the committee within a month that whether the summary for cancellation of the lease agreement of land given to PARC on lease will be withdrawn or not.
The meeting was held under the chairmanship of Senator Jehanzeb Jamaldini here at the Parliament House on Thursday. The matter was referred to the committee as a breach of privilege of the Senate’s standing committee on National Food Security and Research as the directives of the committee on withdrawing the summary was not implemented by CDA. The same report of the committee was also adopted by the House so the matter stood as a breach of privilege of both the committee and the House.
The privilege motion of Senator Kalsoom Parveen was disposed off after the mover expressed satisfaction on the report of the standing committee on Cabinet Secretariat regarding the violation of the recommendations of the same committee on interviews conducted against a promotion seat of Executive Director of Poly Clinic Hospital. The privilege motion of Senator Daud Khan Achakzai regarding absence of Chief Secretary Balochistan and DG FWO in meetings of standing committee on communications was also disposed off after hearing Chief Secretary Balochistan who was present in the meeting. He assured the committee that he will ensure his presence in the next meeting when the relevant agenda is under discussion.
The meeting also discussed the breach of privilege by Aviation division and PIA when a calling attention notice about crash of PIA ATR on 7th December, 2016. Senator Samina Abid asked about the possibility of a technical fault from the beginning of the flight. Secretary Aviation Division responded that the black box audio synchronization is in process and it will be known after the process of investigation that what was the purpose of the failure of both engines. The sub-committee of Senate special committee on PIA which is reviewing the operational and administrative matters of PIA will also discuss the matter.
